I’d like to welcome you to my blog. My name is Michael Carr, and I’m glad you stopped by.
So why the name “Apostasy Vortex”? Let’s start with a couple of definitions:
Simply put, the word, “apostasia”, as found in the New Testament, means a falling away, or a departure from one’s faith. It can also be defined as “defection” or “revolt”.
The word “Vortex” can be defined as “a whirling mass of water, air, fire or system that tends to draw in and consume that which is located within its influence”. Some examples might be a tornado, a whirlpool, or a societal system. It can also apply to the dynamic of a person being unwittingly drawn into an individual’s influence. Being drawn into a vortex usually implies inescapable demise.
“But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron…”
1 Tim 4:1-2
Today the church of Jesus Christ is experiencing a rapid, ever-accelerating decline, or falling away from the faith. We see it everywhere, from the “name it and claim it” gospel, the “prosperity” gospel, and the “purpose-driven” gospel, to name but a few. Going “out into the world to make disciples of men, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:19) has fallen by the wayside and been replaced by entertainment, wealth-creation and the over-emphasis of God’s grace at the expense of His many other attributes (some which don’t give us that warm, fuzzy feeling).
The word, “obey” has become a four-letter word in many Christian circles, and can be source of very real persecution as the Christian brother or sister who desires to be obedient can be labelled “legalistic”. In this blog I will have much to say about feminism, Satan’s destructive master stroke and blight upon the church.
I’m hoping that some articles in the blog will be a wake-up call to the sleepy, apostate church of our day and by God’s grace prevent some from getting sucked into the ever-accelerating vortex of apostasy that is consuming so many at an ever-increasing rate.
May God richly bless you.
